EFP EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS, one of EFP's flagship programmes, has placed some of the most promising young actors from all over Europe into the limelight over the past 25 years and proven to be an essential stepping stone for launching their international careers. The most prominent names in recent years included: Carey Mulligan (UK), Alba Baptista (Portugal), Alicia Vikander (Sweden), Pilou Asbaek (Denmark), Riz Ahmed (UK), Marwan Kenzari (The Netherlands), and Luca Marinelli (Italy).
Each year, up-and-coming actors from all over Europe – who have already made a name for themselves in their home countries – are nominated by the EFP member organisations to take part in the prestigious programme. A jury of industry professionals selects the ten most interesting and internationally versatile talents to be introduced to the press, industry and public at the Berlin International Film Festival. As a European Shooting Star, the actors and actresses attend a tailor-made programme, including meetings with casting directors, talent agents and producers, which broadens and strengthens their international industry alliances and networks. The activities culminate in a glamorous presentation of the European Shooting Stars Awards at the Berlinale Palast.
Since 1998 323 European actors (178 women / 145 men) from 34 countries were awarded as EUROPEAN SHOOTING STAR.
Every year EFP appoints a jury of prominent industry figures (director, producer, actor, casting director, film journalist) to select Europe's best young actors from a variety of up-and-coming acting talent from all over Europe.
Combining their diverse expertise in the various fields of the creative filmmaking process, the jury will select the ten most talented and internationally diverse young actors and actresses from the candidates who have been nominated by their respective EFP member organisations for the upcoming edition of EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS.

The Actors Industry Network (AIN) is a tailor-made program for the selected 10 European Shooting Stars to connect and network with International Casting Directors, Talent Agents and Producers. The platform aims to give the young talent the chance to forge, broaden and strengthen industry alliances in Europe and around the globe.
Each of the 37 EFP member organizations can nominate a candidate. The final selection is made by an international jury of industry professionals.
