European Film Promotion (EFP) and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) are thrilled to welcome the ten up-and-coming directors selected for this year's EFP Future Frames programme presenting their latest films at the festival (until 8 July 2023).

After an intense online pre-programme including pitching trainings and industry meetings the talents will be presenting their films in the following days to the industry, press and audience at the festival. Part of the 3-day-programme on site is also the exclusive master class with Polish director Agnieszka Smoczyńska on 4th July who will share her experiences in filmmaking with the young directors.

about karlovy vary international film festival

Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) is the largest film festival in the Czech Republic. It is one of the oldest A-list film festivals, a category it shares with the festivals in Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Locarno, San Sebastian, Montreal, Shanghai, and Tokyo. Among filmmakers, buyers, distributors, sales agents, and journalists, KVIFF is considered the most important event in all of Central and Eastern Europe.

about allwyn

As a partner of KVIFF, Allwyn, a leading multi-national lottery operator, will host the Allwyn Future Frames Lounge on site and bring the ten emerging European talents together with industry leaders, including overseas talent agency UTA and management company Range Media Partners. Allwyn’s new celebration evening will commemorate the work of all ten selected directors. In addition, introduced this year through partnership with Allwyn, one fortunate director of the group will be afforded a scholarship to Hollywood.

Robert Chvatal, CEO of Allwyn, said:
"I am delighted that Allwyn is partnering with the European Film Promotion's Future Frames for the first time this year. I have followed Karlovy Vary International Film Festival each year growing up and it still holds a special place in my heart. Although it is well established, it continues to adapt and remain relevant and inspiring to the next generation.
Today, it is rightly known as a hub for young cinema – contributing to building a positive future for the world. At this years' festival we have the stars of tomorrow, ten talented directors nominated from across Europe – one of whom Allwyn is funding to go to Hollywood to learn from the best in the business. Film has the potential to bind us together and create stronger links through society. So, all of us at Allwyn are very proud to help support the future of European cinema."
