After the successful launch of 10 EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS in February via an online Kick Off Show, industry meetings and networking sessions with casting directors, agents and producers as well as interviews and public panels, EFP is delighted to announce a grand finale for 8 of the 10 actresses and actors. As part of the Berlinale Summer Screenings (1 - 20 June), they will be receiving a prize at the Shooting Stars Award Ceremony on 14 June.
"We have been crossing our fingers for many months. It is finally going to happen! We are so very lucky that the Shooting Stars of 2021 will eventually be able to travel to Berlin, meet each other in person and receive their awards on stage. Many thanks to the Berlinale for this great opportunity during these demanding times“, says EFP’s Managing Director Sonja Heinen.
"We are very excited to welcome these outstanding talents in person at this year's rather different Berlinale and to complete EFP's important programme with the real and festive award ceremony", says Mariette Rissenbeek, the Executive Director of the Berlin International Film Festival.
The ten selected European Shooting Stars for 2021 are (in alphabetical order of countries): Seidi Haarla (Finland), Nicolas Maury (France), Albrecht Schuch (Germany), Natasa Stork (Hungary), Fionn O’Shea (Ireland), Žygimantė Elena Jakštaitė (Lithuania), Martijn Lakemeier (The Netherlands), Sara Klimoska (North Macedonia), Alba Baptista (Portugal) and Gustav Lindh (Sweden).
For the Award Ceremony on 14 June at 6.45pm, 8 of the 10 talents are expected to be in Berlin (Fionn O’Shea and Nicolas Maury are unfortunately unable to travel to Berlin) as well as jury member Cassandra Han. The American casting director was on this year’s Shooting Stars jury together with Kosovan director Antoneta Castrati and Danish producer René Ezra. The Shooting Star Award Ceremony will take place before the screening of the film I’m Your Man by Maria Schrader. As a patron, leading actress of the film and Silver Bear Award winner Maren Eggert will present the awards.
