FUTURE FRAMES – European Film Promotion’s cooperation with the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (July 1 – 9, 2016) presenting the ten most promising European filmmakers straight out of film school is entering its second round. Whilst the new group will be announced on May 3, some of last year’s participants have already been making a splash in the film industry. For example, Patrick Vollrath from Austria, whose short feature film “Everything Will Be Okay” premiered last year at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes and went on to receive not only the Student Academy Award 2015, but was also nominated for the Oscar in 2016. Fellow filmmaker Ondřej Hudeček from the Czech Republic was honoured with the Sundance Short Special Jury Award for Best Direction 2016, and Konstantina Kotzamani from Greece will premiere her film “Limbo” in the Short Film Competition at this May’s Semaine de la Critique in Cannes. Excellent references for the new FUTURE FRAMES participants, who have been nominated by the EFP member organisations and selected by the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival according to their artistic quality, content and international appeal.
