The Toronto International Film Festival® (TIFF) remains one of EFP’s flagship festivals for which Film Sales Support (FSS) for the promotion of European films is available. In total an amount of €155,544 has been reserved by EFP for 27 sales companies which are unrolling their marketing campaigns for 40 new European films screening at this highly important autumn festival. All of the films are available for North American and world distribution. For the first time, a Turkish film is benefiting from the support thanks to the Creative Europe – Media Programme of the European Union. The Programme which has been backing FSS for 12 years, recently opened its doors to Turkey.
This year’s FSS lineup includes films from 15 European countries with the majority celebrating their World Premiere at TIFF. Amongst them are, for example, four films from Belgium, three from Romania, Poland and The Netherlands. The respective sales companies, Be For Films, Indie Sales, Doc&Film International, the Match Factory, Films Boutique, Wild Bunch, Fortissimo Films, Bac Films Distribution and Media Luna New Films are in attendance.
Julie Delpy’s love story, Lolo, has a Gala Presentation at TIFF and is being sold by Wild Bunch at the festival. Recent documentary, Je Suis Charlie, represented by Pyramide International, pays tribute to the famous French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, following the radical islamic attacks. Colonia, Florian Gallenberger’s new film stars Emma Watson and Daniel Brühl and reflects the infamous methods of Colonia Dignidad in Chile in the 60s and 70s. Beta Cinema is selling the film.
Jerzy Skolimowski thriller movie, 11 Minutes, casts numerous of Poland’s best young actors, including former European Shooting Stars, Agata Buzek and Mateusz Kosciukiewicz. Midnight Madness entry, Baskin, by Can Evrenol from Turkey is represented by the UK’s The Salt Company.

FSS funding for national films was confirmed by the respective EFP member organisations and the Ankara Cinema Association:
Austrian Films, British Council, Danish Film Institute, EYE International, Finnish Film Foundation, Flanders Image, German Films, Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales / ICAA (Spain), Istituto Luce Cinecittà (Italy), Norwegian Film Institute, Polish Film Institute, Romanian Film Promotion, Swedish Film Institute, UniFrance Films, Wallonie Bruxelles Images
