Summary

Atıl İnaç's second feature film following 2007's Zincirbozan premiered at Montreal Film Festival where it was screened within the Forum on World Cinema section. A Step Into the Darkness is the story of an Iraqi Turkish girl's distressing journey through the Turkish-Iraqi border and her subsequent radicalization. Cennet loses her family in a "regular" US security raid, and is the only survivor. She has no choice, but to set out for Kirkuk in search of her older brother, Azim. When she reaches Kirkuk she learns that Azim has been badly hurt in a bomb blast and was taken to Turkey for treatment. Desperate to track him down, Cennet sets off on an arduous journey.
