The life of Gabor, a 55 year old man with the mental capacity and simplicity of a child, is turned upside down when his mother, his only support and care, is accidentally killed in a botched bank robbery. He and teenage prostitute Jolie are the only ones who can identify the mastermind behind the crime, who wants them both dead.

Gabor, with the reluctant co-operation of Jolie, must run for his life. The odd pair, armed with a chandelier and a pair of beekeepers' masks, set out on a madcap journey across the Hungarian border to seek shelter at Gabor's Grandma in Romania. But Grandma, long
dead, has lived on only in Gabor's stories and meticulous drawings.

While the pair tries to fit in the old village and build a new life, the murderer of Gabor's mother in his quest to track down and eliminate them, finds an unwitting ally in the local police...

Balancing precariously on the edge between crude reality and fanciful imagination, the two manage to survive and, in the process, find peace with each other, the world, and, most difficult of all - themselves.
