The Audition

Summary

Anna teaches violin at a high school for young musicians in Berlin. Her French husband Bronsky makes violins. Together, they have a ten-year-old son. At her school''s annual entrance exam, despite the opposition of all the other teachers, Anna drives through the admission of a boy in whom she detects a remarkable talent. She will work with Alexander with great dedication and affection, and soon, devote more time and attention to Alexander than to her own son Jonas... Rivalry arises between the two boys, while Anna and Bronsky''s marriage is going downhill. But where she failed, her gifted student Alexander must succeed... As an important audition approaches, Anna becomes increasingly obsessed with driving him to new heights.
