Summary

In her early 20s, Marleen (Jella Haase) still lives at home and prefers working in the little movie theater around the corner rather than making big plans for the future. Naturally, her parents Peter (Uwe Ochsenknecht) and Doris (Juliane Köhler) drive her insane with annoying questions like: What do you want to do with your life? Don't you want to study? How's the search for an apartment coming along? As if that wasn't enough, her brother Erik (Matthias Schweighöfer) is a real high flyer: He's traveled halfway across the world working as a development aid volunteer, mountain climber and surf instructor - and now he's even started writing books! Just when it seems as though things couldn't get worse for Marleen, her life is turned upside-down by a tragic accident that sends her into a downward spiral of misery. Carrying nothing but a backpack with a toothbrush and some clothes, Marleen sets off on a journey into the unknown. Along the way, she meets a photographer named Ben (Marc Benjamin), the crazy YouTuber Zoë (Emma Drogunova) and gets caught up in a series of freakish situations. The further she travels, the more she understands: This road trip has no destination, it's a journey towards her own self.
