EFP launched special industry screenings in 2005 with the aim to introduce new European films to North American buyers. Strategically well placed, in June every year, the screenings in New York showcase films from different European countries with a commercial potential. Films are chosen by EFP’s members and European sales agents.

In 2013, six films and more, available for US distribution, are shown to invited buyers and industry over a two-day period. The screenings raise the awareness of European films and provide European sales companies with additional opportunities to secure deals on the US market. Special marketing campaigns undertaken by the sales company and personal attendance of a sales representative in New York City have to accompany the individual screenings.

Since 2008, EFP Screenings in Los Angeles have taken place annually during the American Film Market. Films screening under this umbrella have been selected as the national submissions for the Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film and are available for US distribution. The screenings are open to Academy members, international buyers attending the AFM, selected press and LA based industry. In the past five years, a total of 70 films were presented. EFP complements the screening series by hosting an active and well attended umbrella office for sales agents and producers at the AFM.
