Background Dublin-born producer Macdara Kelleher received a BA in English Literature and Classical Studies from University College Dublin in 1998 and, a year later, graduated with an MA in Film from the Dublin Institute of Technology. In 2003, he was appointed Managing Director of Fastnet Films, a company which he now co-owns with acclaimed Irish writer/director Lance Daly. Macdara has produced seven feature films, several documentaries, series and short films. In 2004, he produced THE HALO EFFECT, starring Stephen Rea, which premiered at the closing gala of the Dublin Film Festival. THE HALO EFFECT was distributed by Buena Vista International and sold throughout the world. Macdara produced the first Irish-Kosovar co-production, Brendan Grant's TONIGHT IS CANCELLED, in coproduction with Concordia Pictures and the first Irish-Hungarian film THE INVESTIGATOR which won five awards at the Hungarian Film Week 2008. Lance Daly's KISSES, a co-production with Lars Von Triers' Zentropa, won "Best Film" at the Galway Film Festival and Foyle Film Festivals 2008. It followed this success with selections at the Toronto, Locarno, Telluride, London, Thessaloniki and AFI Film Festivals. The film which is being sold by Focus Features International was the highest grossing Irish film of 2008. In 2009 it received an Irish Film and Television Award for "Best Director". Most recent credits include NOTHING PERSONAL which won five awards at the 2009 Locarno Film Festival, five Dutch Golden Calf awards and is being sold by Bavaria International; the feature documentary COLONY which screened at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival, won the First Appearance award at the IDFA, nominated Best Documentary at the 2010 IFTAs and is being sold by E1 Entertainment, and PRINSESSA which received three 2010 Guldbagge nominations. Fastnet's scheduled releases in 2011 include Ian Power's THE RUNWAY, winner of two 2011 IFTA's, Rebecca Daly's THE OTHER SIDE OF SLEEP which has been selected to participate in the prestigious Director's Fortnight at Cannes 2011 and Janez Burger's CIRCUS FANTASTICUS which premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival 2011. Macdara is an EAVE graduate and a member of the ACE European Producers Network and Screen Producers Ireland.
