Producers on the Move 2008

Background Born in Riga, Alise Gelze studied Sociology at Riga's Stradina University and the European Integration Institute. She worked, among other things, as a project manager at several advertising agencies as well as a producer for art, fashion and music events before joining the Film Angels Studio in 2004. Alise produced the studio's first feature film VOGELFREI, directed by four directors Janis Kalejs, Gatis Smits, Janis Putnins, Anna Viduleja, which had its world premiere at the Pusan International Film Festival and subsequently won the Latvian Lielais Kristaps film awards for "Best Film", "Best Script" and "Best Cinematography". Apart from producing VOGELFREI, Alise has also worked on several local and international commercial videos. As from June 2008, she is part of the new Tanka Studio and produces Gatis Smits' next feature film THIS HAPPENED TO THEM which was lensed by the US cinematographer Andrij Parekh (Half Nelson) and is now in post-production. Tanka is also developing other feature projects by young Latvian filmmakers.
