Producers Lab Toronto 2012

A graduate in Film Production of the Lisbon Film School in 1995, Fernando Vendrell worked for several years as an assistant director for such directors as Manoel de Oliveira, João César Monteiro, José Fonseca e Costa, Raoul Ruiz, João Canijo and Manuel Mozos, among others, before he established his own Lisbon-based production company David & Golias in 1992. Since then, he has developed new film projects as a producer, director and screenwriter, ranging from his own directorial work SKIN in 2005 and the historical TV movies THE DAY OF THE REGICIDE and BLOODY NIGHT through two films by Zézé Gamboa - THE HERO and THE GREAT KILAPY - to Catarina Ruivo's third feature SECOND HAND and Inês Oliveira's BOBÔ. In addition, he is now in pre-production on ALMOST MEMORY by the Brazilian director Ruy Guerra. Fernando has spent many years developing a film entitled COME BACK which is based on true events set in the Portuguese immigrant community in Toronto and could be an ideal candidate for co-production with Canada.
