EFP backs marketing campaigns of seven European films at China’s Competitive Film Festival

European Film Promotion’s (EFP) financial incentive, Film Sales Support (FSS) is being awarded to altogether eight European films and their respective sales agents for promotion at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). Meanwhile in its ninth year, FSS is backed by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union.
SIFF takes place from 16-24 June this year. Three of the supported films, Excuse Me by Henrik Ruben Genz from Denmark, Isztambul by Ferenc Török, a coproduction between Hungary, the Netherlands, Ireland and Turkey and Chrysalis by Paula Ortiz from Spain are part of the festival’s official Competition and are vying for the Golden Goblet Award.
Excuse Me as well as Summer Window by Hendrik Handloegten (Germany, Finland) are being represented by Danish sales outfit, TrustNordisk, with sales agent, Nicolai Korsgaard, travelling to Shanghai to market the films; Fortissimo’s Michael Werner and Esther Yeung will be at the festival to represent Isztambul. Vertice Sales which is receiving Film Sales Support for the first time, is represented by Maria Arroyo who will market Chrysalis, Looking For Eimish and the documentary, The Eyes of War by Roberto Lozano Bruna.
The supported Spanish film, The Perfect Stranger by Toni Bestard which is screening in Panorama at SIFF, is being sold by High Point Films of the UK, with sales representative Kevin Law in attendance; Kaddish For A Friend by Leo Khasin (Germany) is represented by its producer, Martin Bach from SiMa Film.
EFP member organisations, German Films, ICAA (Spain), the Danish Film Institute and Magyar Filmunió/Division of the Hungarian National Film Fund have approved FSS funding for their respective films.
