Golden and Silver Bear at the Berlinale 2010

New success story: PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE

It was a successful weekend for several European producers who have participated in EFP's programme PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE in recent years.

Bettina Brokemper (Heimatfilm, German Producer on the Move 2006), saw her film Bal (Honey) directed by Semih Kaplanoglu winning the Golden Bear for the Best Film and also the Ecumenical Jury Prize. Daniel Mitulescu (Strada Film, Romanian Producer on the Move 2009), was honoured with the Silver Bear – the Grand Prize of the Jury and the Alfred Bauer Prize for: If I want to whistle, I whistle (Eu cand vreau sa fluier, fluier) by Florin Serban.


Screened in the Berlinale's competition, A Family (En Familie) directed by Pernille Fischer Christensen and produced by Sisse Graum Jörgensen (Producer on the Move 2003 for Denmark), was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize, while The Mouth of the Wolf (La Bocca del Lupo) directed by Pietro Marcello and produced by Nicola Giuliano (Italian Producer on the Move 2005) won the Teddy Award – Best Documentary Film as well as the Caligari Film Prize.

Irish Film& Television Awards

Furthermore, at the 7th Irish Film & Television Awards in Dublin, Andrew Freedman, Irish Producer on the Move 2009, won Best Feature Documentary for his production of His & Hers.


Carey Mulligan won BAFTA Award

Carey Mulligan, UK Shooting Star 2009, continues her successful run of awards and distinctions: she has now won the BAFTA Best Leading Actress Award in London for her role in An Education by Lone Scherfig.

Moreover, at the 7th Irish Film& Television Awards in Dublin, two former Shooting Stars received awards in the Television Drama Categories: Sarah Bolger, Irish Shooting Star 2009, won Best Actress in a Supporting Role for "The Tudors" by Michael Hirst. Elaine Cassidy, Irish Shooting Star 2001, was honoured as Best Actress in a Lead Role for "Harper's Island" (TV series) by Jon Turteltaub.
