Europe's young acting talent to be showcased in Lithuania

European Film Promotion (EFP) is going to present three of the best young actors from across Europe selected as 2009 SHOOTING STARS with their latest films at the European Film Forum Scanorama in Vilnius/Lithuania (November 5-7, 2009).

Coming from Denmark, Cyron Melville will present Love and Rage (Vanvittig Forelsket), the Hungarian actress Orsi Tóth brings My One and Onlies (Egyetleneim) and Celine Bolomey from Switzerland will be there with her latest film The Noise In My Head (Du Bruit Dans La Tête). For three days, these European talents will be involved in various activities during the festival. Financial backing for this event comes from the EU Media Programme.

With the Touring Shooting Stars Programme at the fifth edition of the European Film Forum Scanorama in Vilnius, EFP gives the young actors exposure to the press and local audiences in this year´s European Capital of Culture. The three SHOOTING STARS visiting Scanorama are renowned actors in their home countries. With the Touring Shooting Stars Programme EFP helps them on their way to international recognition and nurtures the diversity of creative talent as the bedrock of the European cinema sector.

Over the past twelve years, the SHOOTING STARS initiative has introduced some of Europe’s brightest emerging acting talents to the industry, press and public at the Berlin International Film Festival and then afterwards at selected European film festivals such as Scanorama.

Celine Bolomey (Switzerland) first starred in Le voyage de Noémie by Michel Rodde in 1986. She then studied acting at the Cinema & Theatre School INSAS in Belgium and worked for ten years on the stage, appearing in almost 30 plays all over Europe. She has had a number of leading roles in films and made a particular mark with Vincent Pluss' Back For More ( On Dirait Le Sud). In 2009, she was again featured in a film by Vincent Pluss, The Noise In My Head (Du Bruit Dans La Tête). For her performance she received the Quartz, the Swiss Film Prize 2009 as "Best Actress".

Cyron Melville (Denmark) just received the “Best Actor Award” at the Montreal International Film Festival 2009 for his role in Love and Rage (Vanvittig Forelsket) by Morten Giese, which will be presented at the Nordic Film Forum. Last year, his outstanding performance in Natasha Arthy's Fighter earned him a nomination in the category “Best Supporting Actor” at Denmark’s Bodil Awards.

Orsi Tóth (Hungary) has won several prestigious awards for her starring roles in Kornél Mun-druczó’s Pleasant Days(Szép Napok), Joan (Johanna) and Delta. At the Nordic Film Forum she will be seen in Gyula Nemes' acclaimed My One and Onlies (Egyetleneim). While having worked on the international productions The Silent Ones by Ricky Rijneke and Jedem Das Seine by Elisabeth Scharang, she can now be seen in Jessica Hausner’s film Lourdes which recently was screened at the festivals in Venice, Toronto and Pusan.
