Samuli Vauramo (KÄSKY/ TEARS OF APRIL) from Finland, Cyron Melville (VANVITTIG FORELSKET/ LOVE AND RAGE) from Denmark and Alba Caterina Rohrwacher (DUE PARTITE/ THE LADIES ) from Italy were presented collectively with their American counterparts, the US-Rising Stars  Emmy Rossum (DARE) and Rooney Mara (TANNER HALL)  as part of the festival’s Breakthrough Performers programme.

During their stay, the young actors and actresses presented their films, took part in a panel discussion and had several meetings with acclaimed members of the American film industry.

Hollywood icon Sharon Stone mentored the programme. "These actors were delightful", said  the acclaimed actress after meeting the young acting talents. "I think they are beautiful inside and out. I anticipate great things in their future."

Sharon Stone took the time to explain important aspects of the acting profession and of how to deal with the industry, and recounted how she had built up her own career. "It was an emotional experience", Alba C. Rohrwacher, Italy's 2009 SHOOTING STAR said.  "I found the conversation with her very inspiring and it has made me think of our profession in a new way. To have met her is a real gift.”

The Touring SHOOTING STARS Programme, a follow-up-event to SHOOTING STARS at the Berlin International Film Festival, puts a spotlight not only on the actors and actresses but also on their films. The event includes screenings of the participants’ latest films, as well as personal meetings with directors, producers, writers, and prominent industry executives.

Dedicated to honour outstanding new talent from around the world, the Hamptons International Film Festival has continued its partnership with European Film Promotion into the second year. The financial backing for this presentation of European actors and actresses comes from the EU MEDIA Programme.
