TESiRO is the new partner of SHOOTING STARS at the Berlinale

European Film Promotion's (EFP) SHOOTING STARS AWARD has been redesigned thanks to the initiative's new main sponsor, Studio Babelsberg. The award will be given to each of the ten young European actors who will be honoured at the event on the main festival stage at the Berlinale Palast on Monday 9 February. Studio Babelsberg is donating ten statuettes modelled on the famous "Maria" from Fritz Lang's film Metropolis which was produced at the Babelsberg studios in 1927. The statuette of the Maria itself has originally been composed 1927 by sculptor and set designer Walter Schulze- Mittendorff.

For the actors, the SHOOTING STARS AWARD – presented by the Berlinale and sponsored by Studio Babelsberg – is a recognition of their acting achievements on a European level.

SHOOTING STARS 2009 are: Cyron Melville (Denmark), Samuli Vauramo (Finland), Hafsia Herzi (France), David Kross (Germany), Orsi Tóth (Hungary), Sarah Bolger (Ireland), Alba Caterina Rohrwacher (Italy), Verónica Echegui (Spain), Celine Bolomey (Switzerland) and Carey Mulligan (United Kingdom).

EFP has attracted a new co-sponsor for the event, TESiRO – one of the world's leading diamond processing companies, who will for the first time this year be an official partner for both the Berlinale as well as the SHOOTING STARS event. At the SHOOTING STARS party Monday 9 February TESiRO will present the young stars with a diamond from the new "Blue Flame" collection, which symbolically is seen as a key to success, as a souvenir of their glamorous weekend in the spotlight.
