The New York Industry Screenings are targeted at invited industry professionals and provide a strong platform for European films seeking US distribution. Since the programme first began in 2005, approximately 25% of the films screened in this series have subsequently secured US distribution.

Films Distribution Partner, François Yon believes that the screenings will offer distributors an all important follow-up opportunity to see films which have just been presented at the Cannes International Film Festival: "Both PRIVATE LESSONS & ELDORADO were selected for Directors' Fortnight in Cannes and received great exposure and response. Nevertheless, many US distributors only stayed a few days this year and were not able to see the films under optimal conditions. We believe the NY screenings will be a great opportunity to share a moment of cinema and to convince our US buyers to consider the films for distribution.” ELDORADO took both the Europa Cinemas Label award for best European film and the sixth "Regards Jeunes" prize. The Europa Cinemas prize was awarded by a jury of four European exhibitors.

THE STRANGER IN ME has also just screened in Cannes in Critics’ Week. According to Bavaria Film International’s Head of Sales, Stefanie Zeitler, “The NY screenings offer a great opportunity to highlight European films such as THE STRANGER IN ME that are real possibilities for US distributors. Decisions can be taken, or at the least, the film will be put on the distributors' radar until Oscar submission time.

The Icelandic film, NO NETWORK, has won awards at children’s film festivals including Best Film at Sprockets Toronto Int’l Film Festival but hasn’t had the opportunity to screen for the U.S market. The film’s director, Ari Kristinsson, believes that the “New York Industry Screenings are a unique opportunity for European producers to present their films to the American audience.“

The NY Industry Screenings on June 23rd and 24th are financially supported by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, Wallonie Bruxelles Images, German Films and the Icelandic Film Centre.
