How PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE benefited from the event in 2006/ 2007 – some examples

Over the past nine years, EFP has created a label with PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE. EFP has asked the participants from the past two years how they profited from meeting each other and from being in the spotlight over three days in the international daily trade newspapers at the world's biggest film festival. Here is a selection of the answers:

Luis Ángel Ramírez-Pérez (IMVAL Producciones), Producer on the Move from Spain 2007, has established co-production relationships aimed at creating a series of documentaries with two Producers on the Move 2007, Piotr Mularuk (Yeti Films) from Poland and Martin Vandas(MAUR Film) from Czech Republic.

Gregory Athanasiou, (Minus Pictures), Greek Producer on the Move in 2007, says:
“During PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE 2007, I signed a beautiful deal with Zentropa and Trust Film Sales for all of my movies! And, of course, my participation in the project was a great support for that!”

Jožko Rutar (Staragara), Producer on the Move from Slovenia, 2006, is now preparing a project with his Polish colleague Piotr Dzieciol (Opus Films).

Ieva Norviliene (Tremora), Producer on the Move from Lithuania, 2006, is working on the project Anarchy in Zirmunai together with Iván Angelusz(Katapult Film) from Hungary who also took part in PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE that year. The shooting is planned for summer of this year.

Karla Stojakova (Axman Production), Producer on the Move from Czech Republic, 2006, is currently producing the feature film NORMAL (working title) with Aleksi Bardy´s and Olli Haikka´s company "Filmiteollisuus". The contact was made during Producers on the Move 2006 when Aleksi Bardy was representing Finland.  Karla Stojakova says: “After being a Producer on the Move in Cannes, I feel much more comfortable at this huge No. 1 festival. I am a producer at the beginning of my journey, so it was a really important moment to be in this project. You certainly can meet the other Producers on the Move around the world, so I am sure we will do some European co-productions together sooner or later because it seems they are all very active producers.”

Leontine Petit (Lemming Film), Producer on the Move from The Netherlands, 2006, says: “You always benefit from an event like this, but it takes sometimes a couple of years before this really shows. We are doing a lot of co-productions with Germany, Belgium, the UK and Scandinavia. It was very good to enlarge my scope of possible co-producers. I also benefit from it on a company branding level. A lot of people inside and outside of Holland still know that we were a Producer on the Move that year and they consider it to be a plus.”

Apart from the MEDIA Programme of the EU and the EFP member organisations, the event is also supported by: BMW, The Hollywood Reporter and Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg.
