The river Oder divides two very different worlds. Here between Frankfurt/Oder and the Polish Slubice all kinds of people come together: Andreas, a cigarette smuggler whose unrequited love turns him into a traitor; Ingo, desperately trying to avoid bankruptcy; Antoni, a Polish taxi driver whose daughter needs a Communion dress - all trying to get their bearings in this confusing world of darkness and light.
