From kitchens, living rooms, and hallways across the Irish midlands, HIS & HERS delightfully combines observation and charm to tell a 90-yearold love story through the voices of 70 women. This intimate gender and cultural snapshot explores a woman's relationships with the men in her life-father, boyfriend, husband, son. Following sequentially from little girl to old woman, each character portrait is woven with the others into one perfectly crafted cinematic quilt.
HIS & HERS is an enchanting and affectionate appreciation for woman in all her versatility. Award-winning short film director Ken Wardrop (UNDRESSING MY MOTHER, THE HERD) has applied his signature style, marking an accomplished feature debut.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
I have always considered HIS & HERSs to be a love story - our desire and luck to share life's journey. In my short film, UNDRESSING MY MOTHER, my mother demonstrates her unconditional love for my deceased father, a love that was personified by her positive attitude to her aging body. For my first feature I really wanted to find a story that would similarly resonate with audiences; a story that would hopefully have the charm and depth that I believed UNDRESSING MY MOTHER had. So I looked to my mother again for inspiration. Could I create a film using her life as a template? A life that was very ordinary but that created this extraordinary character.
