Shooting Stars at the Hamburg Film Festival

EFP
continues working with Europe‘s young, vibrant talent base as a central
means of marketing and promoting European films. Since 1998, EFP has presented
the initiative SHOOTING STARS during the Berlin International Film Festival,
where Europe’s next wave of acting talent is presented to the press,
industry and public in a series of events. During this time, EFP has introduced
more than 100 up-and-coming young European actresses and actors to the international
world via the SHOOTING STARS initiative.
In 2002 and 2003, as a result of this great success, EFP has launched a follow-up
programme to the Berlin event - The Touring Shooting Stars Film Programme.
Using a similar concept and promotional platforms as in Berlin, EFP chose three
festivals per year in Europe where a selection of the SHOOTING STARS are presented,
along with their films to the local audience and press.
EFP is pleased to present this year in September a group of the SHOOTING
STARS in its home town Hamburg during the festival. According to festival director
Albert Wiederspiel, "Filmfest Hamburg is, above all, a forum for discoveries:
what could be more exciting than seeing a young, fresh actor with great potential.
Our festival section, "eurovisuell" is designed to present commercially
successful films from our European neighbours to the public; isn’t it
natural, therefore, to want to introduce the young talent from these countries
as well" So,
for the first time, and in collaboration with European Film Promotion, we have
decided to present "Shooting Stars" at the Hamburg Film Festival.
