Bridges Europe - Turkey

EFP in partnership with the Istanbul International Film Festival

April 3-18, 2010

2010 will see Istanbul take on the role of the European Capital of Culture, which provides a unique background for a new EFP initiative to take place during the Istanbul International Film Festival. A programme highlighting European and Turkish films will be presented with the aim of facilitating and improving the distribution of European films in Turkey and Turkish films in Europe. Key European distributors will be invited to Istanbul to see the latest in Turkish fare, while at the same time, the Turkish industry will have the chance to see the newest products from Europe.
Bridges Europe - Turkey also aims to raise public awareness by organising information and publicity campaigns.

Activities

EFP activities (in close collaboration with the festival and EFP members) include:

• Presentation of 10 new films for festival audiences by up-and-coming European directors and presentation of 12 new films by up-and-coming Turkish directors
• Additional Industry Screenings for the 10 European and 12 Turkish films
  
• Press work / Publicist to draw attention to the films and their talent
  
• Advertisements and publication on the European and Turkish films
• Industry events
  
• European reception
• Workshop for the European and Turkish directors in cooperation with a local film school/ university
  

The activities are made possible with the support of MEDIA International, and EFP's member organisations, the Istanbul International Film Festival/Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts and Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture.
