EFP - European Film Promotion

Unifrance

Unifrance was created in January 1949 with the aim of promoting French cinema abroad. Today, more than 860 industry professionals and actors/actresses are members of Unifrance and, together, they work to increase the distribution of French films on the international market. Producer Antoine de Clermont-Tonnerre has been President of the association since January 2009.

Unifrance participates in approximately 50 international festivals annually. At these events – including Berlin, Cannes, Karlovy Vary, Locarno, Moscow, New York, Pusan, Rome, Rotterdam, Tokyo, Toronto, Venice, and Clermont-Ferrand for short films – it organises the presence of French films as well as the activities of French artists. In addition, Unifrance also takes part in film markets where it provides promotional and exhibition space for French industry professionals: Cannes, Berlin, Los Angeles (AFM), Hong Kong (Filmart), Toronto.

Unifrance supports the commercial distribution of French films in many markets outside France, helping French sales companies and foreign distributors to enhance the visibility of French films. Unifrance also organises many events, all of them situated in countries with strong commercial potential ("Rendez-vous with French Cinema" in Paris, French Film Festival in Budapest, in Japan, in Russia, "Rendez-vous with French Cinema Today" in New York and London, China, India, Brazil, among others).

Unifrance is one of the 10 Founding Members of EFP.

"We express our gratitude for EFP's initiatives which give the relations among European productions a deeper input. EFP does brilliant and efficient promotional work highlighting the diversity of European cinema." Régine Hatchondo
