EFP - European Film Promotion

Slovenian Film Fund

Slovenian Film Fund (SFF) was founded by the Slovenian Ministry of Culture in 1994 and it represents the centre for planning and realization of film activities within the frame of the national cultural programme. Its founding coincides with the new wave of Slovenian film. In the ten years of its existence SFF has supported approximately 40 feature films. Slovenia participates in the EU Media Programme and Media Desk Slovenia operates under the auspices of the Slovenian Film Fund. Slovenia is also a member in the Euroimages Fund.

Apart from film production, the Film Fund also co-finances the distribution and promotion of the national film programme and thus makes it possible, at least to a certain degree, for it to compete with the mainstream American films on equal terms within Slovenia.

International activities:

The Slovenian Film Fund is responsible for the cultural presentation and promotion of Slovenian films abroad. The international film festivals held in Slovenia – the Isola Cinema, Animateka, The Gay and Lesbian Film Festival – are supported by the Slovenian Film Fund. The fund also supports Slovenia’s main national film festival.

From 2008-2011, the Slovenian Film Fund is also a partner of the Eurodoc training programme.

The Slovenian Film Fund has been an EFP member since 2005.

„EFP has become like a big family, and in all big families, it is not always so easy to agree on all issues. But in EFP the common interests are still the main goal to follow and support.“ Nerina T. Kocjančič
