Slovak Film Institute

The Slovak Film Institute (Slovenský filmový ústav, SFU) is the national support, research and archive institution in the field of cinematography operating under the Slovak Ministry of Culture. SFU comprises the National Film Archive and the National Cinematographic Centre. SFU is the seat of MEDIA Desk Slovakia.
Slovak Film Institute
collects, preserves and protects Slovak cinematographic heritage and presents it to the public. SFU is a full member of FIAF since 2001
executes producer’s rights to Slovak films made from 1895 – 1991 by national studios
provides services to the public, such as audiovisual information service, Cinemathéque, Book and Video Library, specialized book and DVD store, expert assistance to film activities, audiovisual and media education
promotes and supports Slovak films in Slovakia and abroad
supports the presentation of alternative and art-house programmes in Slovakia
runs specialized web sites as comprehensive sources of information on Slovak and international audiovisual production (www.aic.sk, www.sfd, sfu.sk, www.filmsk.sk).
The National Cinematographic Centre of the Slovak Film Institute promotes Slovak films in Slovakia and abroad, provides complex information services related to Slovak cinematography, and runs a publishing house for general and professional film literature (journals, promotion materials, books, DVDs).
The Slovak Film Institute has been an EFP member since 2006.
