Romanian Film Promotion

The Romanian Film Promotion (APFR) was established in 2003 with the objectives of supporting young filmmakers, promoting European values and shaping a new generation of viewers for the cinema of the 21st century. Although Romanian Film Promotion is not a governmental body, it is encouraged by the National Center for Cinematography.
The main activities of APFR include:
Information
The catalogue of Romanian Films and a website (www.romfilmpromotion.ro, with the future intent of a newsletter) inform about the current state of the Romanian Film Industry.
Promotion
The APFR organizes a Romanian booth at important film markets and festivals, and the "Shooting Romania" catalogue aims at promoting Romania as an excellent film location.
Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF)
Romanian Film Promotion is the main organizer of TIFF, which celebrated its 8th edition in 2009. It takes place annually, at the end of May and attracts internationally acclaimed personalities from the cinematic field. Its objective is the promotion of cinematographic art by presenting innovative films of the moment that feature both originality and independence of expression, that reflect unusual cinematic language forms or focus on current trends in youth culture.
The GOPO Awards
Since spring 2007, APFR organizes the annual Gopo Awards, the Romanian Film Industry awards.
Romanian Film Promotion has been an EFP member since May 2006.
"Romanian Film Promotion became a member of EFP at a time when Romanian cinema acquired international recognition. Therefore, joining EFP and taking part in its initiatives offers a great opportunity for supporting and promoting future Romanian cinema.” Mihai Gligor
