Greek Film Centre

The Greek Film Centre (GFC) is a state-owned corporation, enjoying financial and administrative independence, operating in the public interest and supervised by the Ministry of Culture. The GFC’s sources of finance are its yearly subsidy from the Ministry of Culture and revenues from a tax return on cinema admissions. The majority of the GFC’s funds are allocated for the production, promotion and exploitation of Greek films with emphasis on first or second films.
On a domestic level, GFC’s activities include providing local theatrical distribution for its productions, promoting Greek films by arranging film weeks and other such events and supporting the national film festivals.
Through its international arm, Hellas Film, the GFC participates in all of the leading European programmes aimed at promoting and selling European films worldwide. The organization is present at all major festivals and film markets and makes its films available for festival screenings all over the world.
The GFC’s support of Greek films is not limited to its co-productions but extends to all Greek films seeking international recognition, on the festival circuit or commercially.
The Greek Film Centre is one of the 10 Founding Members of EFP.
„EFP is an open window for the promotion of European cinema in the competitive international film arena.” Demetri Sofianopoulos
