Cannes: Camera d'Or and CICAE prize for films by PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE 2008
The Un Certain Regard opening film
Hunger, which was produced by
Laura Hastings-Smith won the Camera d'Or Award in Cannes last Sunday, while producer
Marko Škop's
Blind Loves, which competed in the Directors' Fortnight section, was honoured with the CICAE
prize. The CICAE prize is presented by the International Confederation of Art
Cinemas, an international jury composed of independent cinema operators. Both
awarded films are first feature-length films,
Hunger being
directed by Steve McQueen and
Blind Loves by Juraj
Lehotsky.
Laura Hastings-Smith (UK) and Marko Škop (Slovakia) both participated
in EFP's PRODUCERS
ON THE MOVE programme in Cannes this year. Together with 20 other selected
promising and talented young producers from all over Europe, they benefited
from EFP´s promotional programme which is financially supported by the MEDIA
Programme of the European Union, the EFP member organisations
and sponsors.
