Icelandic Film Centre

The Icelandic Film Centre provides financial support for the production and co-production of Icelandic feature films, documentaries, short films and TV fiction.

The Icelandic Film Centre promotes Icelandic films abroad and takes part in film markets at Berlin, Cannes, Toronto, Clairmont-Ferrand as well as Nordisk Panorama. It arranges Icelandic film weeks and retrospectives in collaboration with film societies throughout the world.

The Icelandic Film Centre hosts and supports film festivals in Iceland and arranges film weeks, seminars and other film events in Iceland. It acts as information centre for Icelandic filmmakers, disseminates information about Icelandic films internationally and gathers documentation, literature and research about Icelandic films.

The Icelandic Film Centre promotes Film-in-Iceland.org about the Icelandic governments’ tax rebate programme that allows 14% tax reimbursements for film and TV production costs incurred in Iceland.

The Icelandic Film Centre is an autonomous body under the auspices of the Icelandic Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

Scandinavian Films, the umbrella organisation of the 5 Nordic Film Institutions, was one of the 10 Founding Members of EFP. The Icelandic Film Centre became an individual EFP member in 1998.
