The Toronto International Film Festival has always been a strong supporter of quality European cinema. EFP has created and nurtured a strong, collaborative relationship with the festival which has enabled the effective promotion of European cinema at this extremely important event. Since EFP's first association with Toronto in 1997, the number of European films shown has grown from 50 productions to over 117 features from EFP member countries in 2007.Introducing the work of new European directors to enthusiastic Toronto audiences has become a Festival tradition and remains a prime focus of the EFP members promotional mandate.

As the Toronto International Film Festival functions as an “unofficial market” with press and industry screenings and an impressive attendance by European sales agents, EFP continues Film Sales Support at the festival, which offers financial incentives to selected sales agents with films in the festival.
